A New Year

Bruce and I spent some time last night reflecting on our many blessings and then dreaming a little of things we desire for 2009. It was a great way to ring in a new year. Here is a small sampling of our many blessings of 2008:

1) Our family is healthy and closer than ever before. I can't begin to express how much my husband and my 3 girls mean to me. They make me laugh and they love me unconditionally.
2) Alyssa graduated from high school. We are so proud of all 3 of the girls for doing well in school, being involved in a variety of clubs, sports, etc.. and staying involved in church. Alyssa continued to amaze me throughout her senior year as she served as social chair and did a fantastic job. It was the best Winter Formal ever!
3) God stretched us and grew us in ways we would have never imagined. He has taught us much about His love, grace and mercy. We have learned to depend upon Him in all circumstances, continually giving Him praise! God is good!
4) We have new opportunities for friendship and relationships while maintaining our true friendships with people back in Vacaville. We've also been able to re-connect with former friends in Fresno and these folks have welcomed us back with open arms.
5) I was able to watch all of Amanda's college volleyball home games. Bruce made most of them. It was amazing to see her play and of course, we were proud.
6) We experienced the love of our church family. Crossroads will always have a very special place in our hearts. We pray that we'll be able to stay connected with our church family.
7) God directed us to a new church in Fresno with solid Bible-teaching and amazing worship. Bruce is already involved in the worship team!
8) We have been blessed by our daughters who work hard at jobs to support themselves in college. It is amazing to see how they balance so many things. We are blessed to have Ashley close by and we've been so proud to see how hard she works both in the classroom and on her job. It has also been great to spend time with her and Lee.

This is just the beginning of my list. I've realized that true happiness doesn't come from having an important job title, a lot of money or a fancy car. It simply comes from knowing you are loved by God, by your family and by your true friends.
